Abundance will be part of the Art Across Australia program and travel across Australia

Lindy Lee’s Ouroboros and its companion creation, Abundance have now been officially unveiled at the National Gallery of Australia. Abundance is the first artwork and collaboration of the Pallion Arts Program.

The first reference to the ouroboros was found in Tutankhamun’s tomb so it is fitting its companion Abundance has been crafted from pure ABC Bullion gold sourced from Mount Rawdon near Lindy Lee’s birthplace.

As the Federal Minister for the Arts the Honourable Tony Burke and Director of the National Gallery, Dr Nick Mitzevich communicated this week Abundance will be part of the Art Across Australia program and travel across Australia telling the inspirational story of Lindy Lee, Australian gold and Ouroboros.

Abundance is on long-term loan to the National Gallery from Lindy Lee and the Pallion Art Collection.

“Gold is one of the earth’s most precious and valued metals. Gold has come to symbolise what is purest, most noble and enduring in human existence. It also speaks of abundance whereby there is no lack but rather repletion and fullness. Abundance is the very opposite of desire which is motivated by a sense of lack and neediness. If there is abundance, we can nurture generosity and learn to share with joy all the gifts that life offers us. The golden Ouroboros, entitled Abundance, was created with generosity as the guiding principle.” – Lindy Lee AO on Abundance.

Abundance took centre stage at the recent NGA annual gala where Pallion CEO, Andrew Cochineas spoke on the importance of supporting Australian Art and enabling artists to engage in interesting collaborations.

Pallion was the proud partner of the National Gallery’s Gala and is passionate about supporting Australian Artists within the Pallion Arts Program to continue the ancient legacy of creating artworks from precious metals.
