ABC Mint has released the next coin in its five-part Untamed Landscapes Series
Following the Crocodile and Kiwi coins, launched last year, these latest addition celebrates the extraordinary wildlife of Oceania, with each design meticulously crafted in 999.9 fine ABC Bullion Australian silver.
Designed by Tony Dean, known for his work with the Royal Australian Mint, the series showcases majestic creatures of the Pacific. With the Thorny Lizard now joining the Crocodile and the Kiwi, the collection will continue with the Kangaroo and Sailfish, released sequentially over coming months.
Central to the collection is the Southern Cross constellation, a symbolic motif that unites refined designs inspired by the region’s diverse terrain and iconic fauna. Each coin embodies exceptional artistry and the unrivalled craftsmanship of Australian precious metals.
The reverse side of the coins features an effigy of King Charles III, sourced from the New Zealand territory of Tokelau. This connection further emphasises the series’ strong ties to Oceania, with the effigy receiving approval from relevant authorities, including those in New Zealand and Buckingham Palace, underscoring its global significance.
Ross MacDiarmid AO, former CEO of the Royal Australian Mint, provides expert advice for the series, ensuring its success on both domestic and international stages. With Australia being the third-largest consumer of silver coins globally, MacDiarmid champions the importance of showcasing Oceania’s beauty in this way.

With only 175,000 coins minted for each design, the Untamed Landscapes series is set to be a prized addition for collectors and investors. Available in a variety of formats, including individual blister packs, the ABC Collector’s Box, ABC Monster Boxes, and rolls of 25 single-design coins, the series is exclusive to ABC Bullion for direct consumer purchases, including from the ABC Bullion flagship store in Martin Place, Sydney. Each coin carries a face value of NZD $5 and has legal tender status. The pricing for the series will reflect the value of the metal, with a modest premium that may fluctuate based on silver market prices.
